Planning our small wedding has made both of us realize how many of our friends and family haven’t met one of us. Here are your Cliffs Notes, so that the next time we see you, you won’t be concerned about the strange but kind person following you around, acting as though s/he belongs.
Jeff is a Buckeye and a left-handed physicist, which means he and Leanne always sit Jeff-Leanne, left-to-right when eating, and there is no conflict during football season. He moved to Washington, D.C., from Ithaca, NY, not just to meet and marry Leanne but to help make the world a better place. He’s worked in politics, focusing on education and science/tech education policy. Jeff needs coffee in the morning, wears sunscreen without being reminded, and has never read Harry Potter.
Leanne is a native New Mexican and drives standard shift but can get lost backing out of a paper sack, so it’s nice that Jeff navigates while she drives. She went to grad school at the same College Jeff’s parents did (but none of them dressed like Colonials at any time), and has also worked in politics, which makes sense because she’s from a big family full of opinionated people. Leanne probably has the best posture of anyone you’ve ever known, due largely to all those years of dance training. She will take a nap or eat a crabcake anytime she’s given the opportunity, has never seen Star Wars, and always wanted to marry a redhead.
On any given night, you can find them hanging out in their Capitol Hill apartment, making dinner, working their way through The Wire (best television series of all time), taking walks, or trying to figure out how to decorate their first, very-cool apartment.
